THE truth isn’t always their truth. Routine grooming and nail trims aren’t harmful; in fact, they’re essential, but try convincing a dog who thinks you’re coming at them with medieval torture devices… YIKES! If a pup perceives something as a threat, they’ll react like it’s life or death, regardless of how safe it actually is. That’s where we step in with patience, skill, and compassion.

Imagine going to a spa every 6 weeks, delightful, right? Now imagine going to the dentist that often for a root canal… no one would sign up for that. Every dog comes to us with their own personality, experiences, and sometimes real trauma. Understanding that is key to helping them succeed, which is why each session at Shag to Chic is tailored to the individual dog.

That’s also why our salon works differently. Alongside traditional start-to-finish grooms, we offer our Softer Approach; working in stages, with breaks, and at the dog’s pace. Many of our visitors have been “divorced” from other salons, labeled too difficult or too much. We don’t see it that way. Every dog deserves an approach that works for them.

About half of our Shaggy Pack comes to us with fear or anxiety around grooming; that’s too many to ignore. By slowing things down and tailoring each experience, we help dogs build confidence that carries far beyond the grooming table.
